Good ventilation is a must for a house, as fresh air is a necessity for good health. In the construction of a house, the architects make sure that the house is well ventilated. Always they provide for ventilation. In tropics most of the houses have ventilation from the roof where the roof is left without covering completely leaving room for air to come in.
In cold climates it is not easy to leave provisions for natural ventilation. As a result some of the air has to be forced out to allow for fresh air to come in. A ventilation fan comes in handy in such a situation. A few fans located in the correct places will solve the problem. These fans will be able to force some of the air inside the house out. One of the places in the house where a ventilation fan could come in is the kitchen. Kitchen is one place the air often gets the smells of food and these smells could spread into other areas of the house if no expelled. A small exhaust fan will do the job. You can find a fan which does not make noise. There are fans which consume very little electricity and make very little noise.
Your bathroom is another place where you can have a ventilation fan. This will expel the moist air from the bathroom. Also the bathroom normally has smelly substances from which the smells could come. Shampoos, toilet soaps, shaving creams all are things which emit smells. These smells will go out with some of the carbon dioxide the people emitted on respiration.
The attic too is another place for an exhaust fan. It gets heated during summer and gets cold during winter. In both cases it is good to expel the air to make way for the fresh air. At the same time it will lessen the load for either heater or the air conditioner.
